Three performances from Timișoara will be held in the coming days as a mirror of the local background in terms of performing arts after the effervescent year 2023 - the Proteszt Association organizes the "INdependent@TM" micro-season. Two productions were made in 2023, when Timișoara was the European Capital of Culture, and the third will be premiered during the micro season.
In the following days, the performances of the theatres from Timișoara, Unfold Motion, Basca and Arte-Factum are scheduled, as they responded to the call within the Independent@TM project - Local independent theater micro-season. On May 23, starting at 5:30 p.m. at Casa Tineretului, the contemporary dance troupe Unfold Motion will perform "The Story of Lost Stories", choreographed by Lavinia Urcan. The cast includes: Diana Abdo, Teodor Cauș, Sara Ghilezan, Vika Medvedeva, Sebastian Teodorovici and Carolina Țapoc. The show analyzes the stories and preconceptions we carry from childhood (sometimes from our family) influence our relationship with the world and the people around us. Using events from their own lives, dancers reproduce certain behavioral patterns or ideas that have followed them into adulthood.
On May 25 at 7.00 pm, the independent theatre company Arte-Factum presents "The Solitude Monologues", directed by Kocsárdi Levente, based on the text written by Simona Donica - an intimate and sensitive show about the isolation of the post-modern world and the alienation specific to urban environments. "The lonely" are performed by Fall Ilona, Darie Doklean, Andrei Elek, Maria Leca, Aida Olaru, Teo Cauș, Ana Andone and Serena Voaideș. The micro season ends with a premiere of the Basca Theater - "Hunger", directed by Alina Ilea - on Sunday, May 26 from 4:00 pm at the Basca location. Charalampos Yannou's text reflects the complicated relationships in a family that negotiates their evidence of affection. The cast includes: Ana Maria Ursu, Bogdan Spiridon, Otniel Floruț, Ana Maria Cojocaru. Tickets can be bought on the spot or on the iabilet.ro platform
Translation into English and Hungarian is provided for all three shows. In this context, Proteszt will also organize a round table meeting on the topic of (In)dependent after 2023, with the participation of the artists of the mentioned troupes, as well as of other cultural operators from Timisoara in the field of performing arts. The meeting will take place Wednesday, May 22, from 8 p.m., in the Studio Hall of the Hungarian Theater in Timișoara.
