The Proteszt Association launches the "Streetart x Arta - workshops for children" project. It offers children the opportunity to explore the world of street art in workshops held at the former Cinema Arta (Str. Iancu Văcărescu no. 18).
The project proposes to organize a series of workshops to introduce children to street art during the City Celebration events (August 16-18), followed by a larger workshop in September-October 2024. Prof. Corina Nani will guide the children through the basic notions in terms of street art, graffiti, large-scale mural painting – using the existing architecture at the former Cinema Arta. At the end of the workshop, the works will remain to decorate the courtyard of the venue.
The aim of the project is to initiate children between 6 and 16 years old in urban art, graffiti art and street mural painting, emphasizing their active involvement in proposing ideas for incorporating specific visual elements in the architectural design of Cinema Arta.
The trainer involved in the project, Associate Professor Corina Nani PhD currently teaches Graphic Design, Communication, Urban Design Aesthetics at the West University of Timișoara and coordinated the International Street Art Festival in Timișoara. The project also addresses the need for education in the field of mural painting, a topic that children do not have the opportunity to learn about at school, being still insufficiently researched. The "Streetart x Arta" project is also an essential initiative for the revitalization of the former cinema and for the involvement of young people in relevant cultural activities in the Iosefin neighborhood as well.
